Social distancing day 1
Wasn’t too terrible, was actually able to get some work done. My wife was a champion and totally taught her classes online. Goes to show, maybe the need for bricks and mortar classrooms are going to change. The COVID event is interesting as I am thinking broadly of what “it” means, if “it” means anything at all? I mean there has to be some underlying reason for why this kind of event happens, and I don’t mean, like how can this happen. I mean what changes will come as a result of this event? For me, I can’t help but think about the meaning of everything. There is no single industry or person who is not affected by this event. Borders closing, distancing from one another in an unprecedented way, all these events have me thinking, about people and connectivity. I think about the fact that people may not know where they will get money to pay for supplies to live over the coming weeks, or about the businesses that people have spent their entire focus and existence on building, only to be sideswiped by this event.
One really amazing thing I think is that bipartisanism and dichotomy seem to be quieted. People are definitely commenting on various social media outlets about the methods by which Canadian and US governments are reacting and mitigating or responding to these events, but I don’t feel inundated with dissenting viewpoints on matters. (I know I can choose what I see hear and listen to…) More to come…
